How Nepal Aviation Services Ensures Seamless Ground Handling & Charter Support for International and Private Flights
Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has grounded five of its six aircraft due to a lack of timely maintenance. The NAC operates two twin otter aircraft for domestic flights and two wide-body and two narrow-body aircraft for international flights.
Due to management flaws, one twin otter aircraft for domestic flights has been grounded since May due to failing to maintain the aircraft on schedule. Twenty domestic flights have been halted as a result of another aircraft's two-month grounding following the expiration of its engine.
Because it was unable to maintain a strong presence on domestic flights due to a lack of aircraft, the NAC grounded three planes on international flights simultaneously. Passengers who purchased tickets have suffered as a result of flight disruptions.
According to NAC spokesperson Ramesh Poudel, both aircraft used on domestic flights are elderly, and spare parts are not readily accessible. He stated that one of the international flights is in China for a thorough examination (C-Check), while the other aircraft would begin flying today after repairs. He claims that spare parts for the domestic aircraft would arrive in Nepal by Saturday and that regular flights will begin next Tuesday. He added on: "Currently, the 9N-ALZ call sign widebody is flying regularly internationally, while the other 9N-ALY call sign aircraft will fly to Delhi today after repairs as the necessary spare parts have arrived from the UK today."
He stated that the entire maintenance work on the 9N-AKW narrowbody aircraft, which is now in China for detailed inspection, has been completed, and the customs clearance process is underway, so the aircraft will arrive in Nepal on Saturday.
He stated that another narrowbody 9N-AKX aircraft with an issue with its nose landing gear is being taken to Delhi for repairs.
Currently, the NAC operates flights to 10 international and 20 domestic destinations. With both domestic planes grounded, flights to Taplejung, Bhojpur, Phaplu, Khanidanda, Thamkharka, Surkhet, Humla, Jumla, Dolpa, Mugu, Bajura, Rumjatar, and Gulmi have been canceled for months.
Similarly, with the international flight schedule delayed, the NAC has been lodging some passengers in hotels and sending others to their respective destinations on another flight, assuming the financial responsibility.
